Grand Valley State dropped a 31-17 decision to Wayne State in the regular season finale at Lubbers Stadium. The Lakers finished the 2019 campaign with an 8-3 record.
Wayne State scored first to take a 7-0 lead, but the Laker offense drove 65 yards in eight plays as
Johnt'e Crawford scampered in with a 13 yard TD run. However, Wayne State answered with a 96-yard kickoff return for a touchdown to take a 14-7 lead. Sophomore RB
Aryuan Cain-Veasey concluded an 8-play, 65-yard drive with a 10 yard TD run and PK
Josh Gorball booted the PAT for a 14-14 score. Gorball added a 33-yard field goal with 1:04 left in the second quarter to give Grand Valley State a 17-14 lead, but the Warriors kicked a 33-yard field goal of their own as time expired in the second quarter to tie the game 17-17.  Wayne State scored 14 second half points, while the Lakers were held off the scoreboard.
Cain-Veasey led the ground game with 134 yards and a TD on 22 carries. FS
