ALLENDALE, Mich. – The No. 2 Grand Valley State Lakers advanced to the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Tournament championship match with a 3-0 semifinal win over the Ferris State Bulldogs Friday (Nov. 15) evening at the GVSU Soccer Field. The Lakers improve to 18-1 on the season, claiming their 16
th shutout of the year.
After a back-and-forth start to the night, the Lakers settled things down with the go-ahead goal in the 21' when
Ava Cook centered a ball for
Riko Sagara, who played it through for
Chantel Carranza to one-time home for the lead. Sagara would provide a brilliant cross in the 30' to set up Carranza for her second goal of the night and the Lakers took a 2-0 lead into halftime.
Late in the second half,
Darline Radamaker lofted a ball over the Bulldogs back line and Greta DeLoach took advantage, hammering home the dagger. DeLoach has three goals in her last two matches. The Lakers are a win away from their 13
th straight GLIAC Tournament crown. They will face the winner of Saginaw Valley and Ashland in the second semifinal.
