Grand Valley State leads the all-time series with Northern Michigan by a 23-17-1 margin, having won four consecutive and 15-of-the-last-16. This will be the Lakers second consecutive year playing at the Superior Dome. The Grand Valley State-Northern Michigan series has gone in cycles over the years. NMU won 12-of-the-first-13 meetings between the schools, but the Lakers' rebounded and went 7-1-1 from 1989-1997. Tariq Reid rushed for 287 yards and three TDs on 39 carries vs. Saginaw Valley State. His 287 yards ranks second all-time in GVSU annals and his 39 carries is fifth all-time. The 287 rushing yards is the top total in D2 this season and fourth among all divisions in college football this season.Â

• GVSU was 11-for-15 on third down conversions at Northwood (.733), including a perfect 8-for-8 in the second half. The Lakers were 9-for-15 in third downs vs. SVSU. GVSU is 13-for-18 (72.2) in the third quarter this season on third down converstions.
• GVSU's 319 rushing yards vs. Edinboro marked the most rushing yards for a Laker offense since a 345 yard effort vs. Lake Erie in 2016. The Lakers rushed for 313 yards and three TDs vs. Saginaw Valley State.Â

Daevon Anderson has nine catches for 301yards and three TDs in four games. Anderson caught two passes (45 and 74 TD) for 119 yards and a touchdown in his first collegiae game vs. Delta State. He followed that up with four-receptions for 121 yards and two TD effort at Northwood. Daevon is averaging 33.4 ypr and a TD every three receptions. Played just one series vs. Ashland and DNP vs. SVSU.Â

Tariq Reid was named GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week for his performance in the Lakers' 35-28 win over Saginaw Valley State. Reid, who rushed for 287 yards and three TDs on 39 carries, etched his name in the GVSU single-game record books. His 287-yard rushing effort is now second on the all-time single-game list, while his 39 carries ranks. Both marks are freshman single-game records. Making his first collegiate start, Reid entered the game with nine carries for 56 yards in two games. He rushed 14 times for 105 yards in the first half, followed by a 182-yard effort on 25 carries in the second half. His TD runs covered 21, 5 and 1 yard.Â

Isaiah Nkansah was named the D2Football.com National and GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week for his efforts in the Lakers' 28-24 win over Delta State. Nkansah recorded a career-high and the third-best, single-game total tackles mark in GVSU football history with 20 stops (6 solo/14 assisted), while adding two tackles for loss (-10) and two QB sacks (-10). Nkansah played a key role in the Lakers' defense holding Delta State to three consecutive field goal attempts (2 missed/1 blocked) and a fourth quarter goal line stand from the 1-yard line that netted -3 yards. Â His two QB sacks came at crucial times, the second on a third down when DSU needed a first down to keep a drive alive late in the fourth quarter.Â

Aryuan Cain-Veasey was named the GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week for his efforts in the Lakers' 35-10 win over Edinboro. Cain-Veasey, who rushed for a career-high 200 yards and three touchdowns on just 11 carries, scored on runs of 48, 94 and 29 yards. In addition, he averaged 18.2 yards per carry and his 94 yard TD run was the third longest in program history, while also becoming the 22nd player to reach the 200-yard rushing mark in a single-game. In 2018, Cain-Veasey rushed for 210 yards and one TD on 30 carries.
