#2 Grand Valley State will host Dixie State in a non-conference Homecoming contest Saturday (Oct. 6) night at Lubbers Stadium (10,440). Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. Grand Valley State enters the game 5-0 overall, while Dixie State is 4-1 with a four-game winning streak.Â

This will be the first-ever meeting between Grand Valley State and Dixie State.
Dixie State
Dixie State comes in 4-1 overall and riding a four-game winning streak.  The Trailblazers have won the last three games by a total of 12 points and have been outscored 167-165 in total points this season. Sei-J Lauago leads the ground game with 447 yards and five TDs, while Lawrence Starks has rushed 296 yards and three TDs. QB Easton Smith has completed 38-of-65 passes for 592 yards and four TDs and Trent Darms is coming off a career day versus Black Hills State, completing 18-of-27 passes for 177 yards. Xavier Smith has caught 10 passes for 222 yards and two TDs to lead the receiving unit. Defensively, Abraham Reinhardt leads the way with 33 tackles and 6.5 TFL, followed by Mike Jones (28 tackles) and Shiloh Pritchard (27 tackles/ 4 TFL).
• Grand Valley State is the winningest FBS, FCS and Division II program in the country, boasting a record of 396-142-3 (.734) in 48 years of playing football. In addition, GVSUis also the winningest GLIAC program all-time with a 288-72-3 mark (.797). Â

• Grand Valley State is the only GLIAC team to win at least 12 games three times since 2013 and make two NCAA DII Playoff semifinal appearances.
• GVSU just finished a stretch of playing three road games in the last four weeks. The Lakers played in Cleveland, Mississippi (1,464 miles round trip) versus Delta State, followed by a road for a trip to Marquette, Michigan (828 miles round trip) to take on Northern Michigan. The Lakers traveled 2,392 miles between the back-to-back road games. GVSU played at Northwood last Saturday (Sept. 29) to complete the road swing.Â
• After leading the nation in pass defense in 2017 (127.5 yards per game), the Lakers rank 8th this season in passing yards allowed (130.6) and 15th in pass efficiency defense (97.62).Â
• The GVSU pass defense has allowed just eight TD passes in its last 17 games.

Bart Williams is now the Lakers' all-time leader in career passing yards (11,021) and passing TDs (119). Williams needs 241 passing yards to move into 25th in NCAA DII all-time passing yards and three TD passes to move into fifth (122). In addition, Williams is fifth in all-time GLIAC passing yards (7,770) and second in passing TDs (86).  Bart, who improved to 37-7 as a starting QB for the Lakers, is a semifinalist for the William V. Campbell Trophy for Academic and Athletic Excellence.Â

Chawntez Moss has rushed for 509 yards and four TDs on 81 carries this season. Moss is averaging 101.8 yards rushing per game.Â

Jack Provencher has 279 rushing yards and four TDs, while catching 16 passes for 153 yards and three TDs. His 441 all-purpose yards is second on the squad.

Dylan Carroll has 149 career tackles, 30.5 tackles for loss and 14.5 QB sacks.Â
• The GVSU defense has 46 tackles for loss (-157) and 11 QB sacks (-69). Twenty-two different Lakers have recorded a TFL and nine have a QB  sack.

Bart Williams was named the GLIACOffensive Player of the Week for the second consecutive week following his performance vs. Michigan Tech. Williams completed 23-of-37 passes for 382 yards and five TDs as GVSUclaimed a 45-20 win. Just one week earlier in the Lakers' 47-14 victory at Northern Michigan, Williams completed 17-of-28 passes for 280 yards and four touchdowns, while toting the ball three times for 16 yards and his first career rushing TD, a six yard scamper. Â

J.J. McGrath has 15 touchbacks in 35 kickoffs this season and is averaging 61.7 yards per kick.Â

Collin Cribley has punted 21 times for a 42.8 yards per punt average, including five of plus 50 yards and five inside the 20. Cribley set a GVSU single-game record for punting yards (12-541) at Delta State.

• The Grand Valley State pass defense has limited its first five opponents to 653 passing yards (109 yards-Indianapolis; 110-Delta State; 103- Northern Michigan; 214-Michigan Tech; ) and four touchdowns via the pass. The Lakers have allowed just eight TD passes in their last 17 games.Â

• Grand Valley State will again face the toughest schedule in Division II football, evidenced by the 2018 ledger having four teams that advanced to the 2017 NCAA DII Playoffs. GVSU opened the season at home versus 2017 GLVC Champion and playoff participant Indianapolis, followed by a road tilt at DII power Delta State.. The Lakers will also host Ferris State (Oct. 13) and Ashland (Nov. 3) at Lubbers Stadium.Â
