MIDLAND, Mich. -- The top-ranked Grand Valley State Lakers secured a 1-0 road win over the Northwood Timberwolves Sunday (Oct. 21) in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) action.
Sydney O'Donnell provided the offense with a 61' goal to move the Lakers to 16-0-1 on the year and 8-0 in GLIAC play, while the Timberwolves fall to 2-12-1 and 1-6-1 in the conference.
"Credit to Northwood for making us look very pedestrian today. Our execution did not meet the expectation or standard that championship teams require," said head coach
Jeff Hosler. "Sydney really saved the day for us and Raemi was great off the bench delivering wing play"
O'Donnell lofted a long-range strike for her second goal of the season, an unassisted effort, for the game winner in the 61'. The Lakers pitch their 12th shutout of the season, including the second against the Timberwolves this season. The Lakers look to polish off an undefeated regular season Friday (Oct. 26) when they host the Davenport Panthers in the GLIAC regular season finale at 7:00 PM.
