RALEIGH, N.C. – Grand Valley State's distance runners went the Tar Heel State this past weekend as the Lakers competed at the 2016 Raleigh Relays, hosted by North Carolina State.

A total of seven NCAA Provisional standards were met at NC State by the Laker men and women distance runners. On the women's side,
Amy Cymerman and
Jessica Janecke both earned qualifying times in the 10k. Cymerman ran a time of 35:26.26 to place 17th, while Janecke finished at 35:38.12 to take 21st.
Amy Creutz also ran for GV, placing 36th in the 1500m with a time of 4:34.77 to finish just outside the provisional standard.

All five Laker men runners competing in Raleigh earned Provisional standard times.
Chris May finished with a time of 14:05.86 in the 5000m to finish 17th, while
Ricky Perez ran the 1500m and finished in 19th with a time of 3:52.61. GVSU had three runners in the 10k:
Kyle Flores,
Chad Cini, and
Nate Orndorf. Flores finished with a time of 30:01.10 to place 26th, while Cini ran a time of 30:25.32 and finished 34th, and Orndorf finished 47th with a time of 30:49.30.

The Lakers will be splitting their squad for a pair of two-day meets this coming weekend. Grand Valley State will be competing from April 1-2 at the Stanford Invitation in California and the Eastern Illinois Big Blue Classic in Illinois.
