Grand Valley State leads the all-time series by a 32-5 margin, including 27 straight wins. The Lakers are 16-2 at Lubbers Stadium and 16-3 at Wayne State. The average margin of victory in the 27-game Laker winning streak is 35.5-12.2 and GVSU has scored 40 or more points nine times and held WSU to 10 points or less 11 times in the last 27 games. The Lakers claimed a 38-17 victory over the Warriors a year ago in Detroit. WSU's last win in the series was in 1984 (30-3).

• Grand Valley State is in its 46th season of football and sports a 381-137-3 all-time record. GVSU's .7341 winning percentage tops all of college football all-time, regardless of division, that have played at least 500 games. Michigan is second (.7320) and Notre Dame third (.7302).

• Grand Valley State remained #2 in the AFCA Division II Coaches' poll with 712 points after a 62-56 double overtime victory at Saginaw Valley State. NW Missouri State is #1 with all 30 first place votes and 750 points.

• Grand Valley State has been ranked in the top five of 154 AFCA Division II Coaches' polls since 2001, including 102 weeks as the number one team in the country.

• Grand Valley State continues to rank among the leaders in the GLIAC and the nation in several categories. The Lakers rank first turnover margin (+10), tackles for loss (7.8), QB sacks (3.40), redzone offense (.850), redzone defense (.317), passing efficiency (172.13), second in scoring defense (17.5), scoring offense (41.3), total offense (496.2) and third in rushing defense (118.9) and total defense (343.6).

• Last Week
It was a wild affair when the Lakers and Cardinals got together a week ago in University Center, Mich. GVSU pulled out a 62-56 double-overtime win in a game that featured a number of ebbs and flows. GVSU jumped out to a 21-7 first quarter lead as QB Bart Williams tossed three first-quarter TDs, two to Nick Dodson and one to Matt Williams.  LB Marquez Gollman picked off a pass and returned it 34 yards for a TD before Williams hit WR Urston Smith with a pair of TD passes before RB Marty Carter put GVSU up 49-42 with a 5-yard TD run. RB Terrell Dorsey rushed for an overtime TD and Carter scored the game-winner with a 2-yard TD run. 
     Carter led the Lakers with 200 rushing yards and two TDs on 34 carries, while Smith hauled in six passes for 162 yards and two TDs. Bart Williams completed 13-of-20 passes for 314 yards and five TDs. Garrettt Pougnet led the way with 15 stops, while DE Alton Voss chipped in 12 tackles.
 
• The Lakers have outscored their first eight opponents 134-14 in the first quarter and 111-43 in the second quarter for a first half total of 245-57. Grand Valley State did not yield either a first half or rushing TD until the eighth game of the season. After not giving up a TD in the first half of the first seven games, the Lakers have not yielded a TD in the second half of the last two games nine and 10. 

• GVSU has converted 58-of-115 (50.0%) attempts on 3rd down this season, while the opposition is 45-for-142 (32.0%).

• The Laker defense ranks first in the GLIAC and 15th nationally in QB sacks with 34 (-192), while also ranking first in the GLIAC and 34th nationally in tackles for loss with 79 (-304).

Mike Ratay had an 87 yard run at Northwood in 2013, but did not score...Carter touched the ball 10 times in the game for 146 all-purpose yards, averaging 16.0 yards per rush and 14.6 yards per touch. He went 79 yards for a TD on the first play of the game and then added a 30-yard touchdown run and a 2-yard TD reception in the first quarter.  
        Carter tallied a record-setting performance with 298 yards and three touchdowns on 20 carries in a 50-24 victory over Northern Michigan (9/17) in which he was named the D2Football.com National Offensive Player of the Week and the GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week for the second consecutive week....Carter's rushing total was a GVSU single-game record and tied for the 10th-best, single-game total in GLIAC history...Former Laker Chris Robinson previously held the GV record with 261 yards on 33 carries at Findlay in 2014.

• Senior RB Terrell Dorsey ranks second on the squad in rushing with 84 carries for 442 yards and five TDs...Rushed for 73 yards and a TD at Saginaw Valley State (11/5)...Toted the ball nine times for 47 yards at Hillsdale (10/22)...Rushed for 43 yards on 11 carries vs. Truman State (10/15)...Toted the ball 11 times for 37  yards and two TDs at Walsh (9/24)...Dorsey rushed for 51 yards and one TD on 12 carries vs. Northern Michigan (9/17)...Rushed 15 times for 100 yards vs. Tiffin (9/1), marking the second and only time in his career that Dorsey reached the 100-yard mark. The other was in 2014 when Dorsey rushed for 115 yards versus Tiffin..Broke the career 1,000-yard mark at SVSU (1,020).

• Grand Valley State set a single-game, school-record for total offense vs. Northern Michigan with 741 yards (449 rushing/292 passing), breaking the previous record of 731 yards vs. Valparaiso on Oct. 28, 1989.
