#8 Grand Valley Continues Winning Ways on Road at Malone, 10-0

Box Score The Grand Valley offense is showing no signs of slowing down in the midst of the Laker's eight game winning streak, and was on full display on Sunday as the Lakers scored 10 goals in a victory over Malone on the road.

Forward Jayma Martin opened the scoring for the Lakers at the 11 minute mark, firing a low shot into the goal from the left side for her third goal of the season.

Seven minutes later, Marti Corby scored her 12th of the season off of a pass from Martin shot into the lower left corner of the goal.

Junior Clare Carlson, having a very hot stretch of the season,  scored her 5th goal of the season off of a corner kick by Marti Corby.

A rebound from a Corby shot set up the Laker's next goal, as freshman Tara Lierman put away the rebound for her fourth goal of the season at the 38' minute mark.

The Lakers headed into halftime with four goals from four different players, but weren't quite done on the attack.

It took just 10 minutes into the second half for the next Laker goal, as Corby found a penetrating Jayma Martin with a pass to put away for her fourth goal of the season and second of the game.

Senior Katie Klunder  would push the Laker lead to sic with a shot from outside the 18 yard box at the 63 minute mark.

Grand Valley would add unassisted goals from Gabriella Mencotti at the 71' mark, Lindsay ebeling at the 78 minute mark, and Samantha Riga at the 86 minute mark. The goal for Ebeling was her first of the season and first in a Laker uniform.

Senior Maddison Reynolds would feed Samantha Riga the ball for Riga's second goal of the game in the 87th minute, ending the scoring flurry.

The Lakers earned a team shutout on defense, as the Pioneers were unable to get a shot off towards the Laker goal. Sophomore Paige Pryson and freshman Sofia Sweier split time in goal.

The win increases the Laker's record to 8-1 on the season and 4-0 in conference.  The team returns to action on Friday, October 2nd in University Center, Michigan in a rematch with Saginaw Valley State University. The Lakers defeated the Cardinals 6-1 on September 22nd
