Complete ResultsGRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Several members of the Grand Vallley State track & field team competed at the 2015 Ernie Mousseau Track & Field Classic on Friday and Saturday, earning a number of top 10 finishes and hitting six total NCAA qualifying marks.
For the women,
Laura Schroeder hit an automatic qualifying mark in the hammer throw by placing first with a throw of 59.42 meters. Also hittig provisional marks for the women were Janae Linville in the hammer with a mark of 53.57 meters to place third, and
Dajsha Avery placed fourth with a mark of 44.40 meters in the discus. On the men's side,
Chris Saikalis took first in the shot put with a qualifying throw of 17.96 meters, while
Mike Moon (1st, 57.93 meters) and
Blake Donson (2nd, 54.30 meters) hit provisional marks in the hammer throw.
A number of Lakers finished in the top 10 without hitting any qualifying marks. For the women,
Kaylyn Hill (42.82m) and Janae Linville (41.91m) placed fifth and sixth, respectively, in the discus. In the men's side of competition, R.J. Johnson took ninth in the 100 meter dash (11.50) and sixth in the 200 meter dash (22.75), while
Jay Lechner took third in the hammer throw (53.30m) and seventh in the discus (45.18m). In addition to his second place finish in the hammer throw,
Blake Donson took sixth in the discus with a mark of 45.82 meters.
Grand Valley State's next meet will take placce at Hillsdale College,in the 2015 GLIAC Outdoor Championships from April 29-May 1.
