Box Score 2 BAY CITY, Mich. --It's been quite a week for the Grand Valley State women's basketball team. A pair of wins, first a 71-63 upset of #2 Lewis University, followed by an 80-76 victory on the road over Gannon swung the Lakers into a 4-1 season record. A large part of both of those victories was the play of forward
Kayla Dawson, and in a release from the conference office on Monday, Dawson was named the GLIAC North Division player of the week.
Dawson, a junior forward from De Pere, Wisconsin, averaged 18.5 points on 54 percent shooting to go along with 5.5 rebounds per game. She scored 17 points in the upset versus #2 Lewis University, and led the team with 20 points on 8-13 shooting on the road versus Gannon. Dawson leads the Lakers with 16.8 points per game this season.
Grand Valley is off to a 4-1 start under first year head coach
Mike Williams, and begins GLIAC play this Thursday with a matchup versus Ashland at GVSU Fieldhouse. Tip off is set for 6 p.m.
