ALLENDALE, Mich. – Grand Valley State swimming & diving swept a dual meet Saturday afternoon against Northern Michigan at the GVSU pool. The Laker men came out on top 156-87, while the women won 158-85 over the Wildcats.Â
Grand Valley State hits the pool again on Saturday (Nov. 14) in Indianapolis when they take on the University of Indianapolis in a dual meet.Â
The GVSU women placed first in eight events, opening the meet with a win in the 400 medley relay as the team of
Meghan Falconer,
Emily Gallagher,
Mercedes Martinez and
Jenn Priebe touched in 3:57.50.
Leonie Van Noort won the 1000 free (10:14.03) and the 200 butterfly (2:10.62), and Gallagher added individual wins in the 50 free (24.95) and the 200 breast (2:25.89).
Lara Deibel touched first in the 200 free (1:56.00), and
Sam Postmus won the 200 individual medley (2:07.79).
Anna Barry placed first in the 3 meter diving with a final score 268.35, and the 400 freestyle relay team of
Lara Deibel,
Allison Wells,
Sam Postmus and
Leonie Van Noort touched the wall first in the 400 freestyle relay (3:33.62).

Nine events were won by the Lakers on the men's side. The 400 medley relay team of
Gianni Ferrero,
Marius Mikalauskas,
Gabriel Souza and
Ben Walling hit the wall first at 3:23.30. Ferrero also placed first individually in the 200 free (1:40.23), Mikalauskas took the 200 breast (2:04.18), and Souza won the 100 free (46.21). Danny Abbot took the 50 free (21.66),
Jesus Morales hit the wall first in the 200 butterfly (1:56.55),
Jared Gregory won the 1 meter diving event (286.42), and
Ian Ellis won the 3 meter diving event (313.12). The 400 free relay team of
Danny Abbott,
Ben Walling,
Nick Zacek and
Gabriel Souza finished first (3:06.09) to conclude the day's events.
