It was a slightly more subdued affair than the first matchup between Grand Valley State and Saginaw Valley State, but the result, a Laker victory, remained the same.
 
GVSU received a goal apiece from Kendra Stauffer and Samantha Riga in the 9^th straight victory for the team.
 
The Lakers kept up a persistent attack on the Cardinals goal, and were rewarded when junior forward Kendra Stauffer scored her fifth goal of the season in the 26^th minute.
 
Grand Valley took the one goal lead into halftime, and would add to the lead in the 63^rd minute off of the fourth goal of the season for freshman forward Samantha Riga.
 
Sophomore goalkeeper Paige Pryson made four saves in going the distance for the Lakers, earning a solo shutout in her second start of the season. The Lakers outshot the Cardinals 19-8.
 
GVSU returns to action on Sunday at GVSU Soccer Field in Allendale, Michigan, in a matchup against Northwood University. The game is the Kick Cancer game, and will raise funds for the Angel wings Foundation of Michigan, which bestows scholarships on children who have lost a parent to cancer. Kick off is set for 1 p.m.
