YPSILANTI, Mich. - The 17th-ranked Grand Valley State baseball team put together a well-rounded game on Saturday (Apr. 5), as the Lakers dominated Ohio Dominican en route to a 10-0 victory at Oestrike Stadium on the campus of Eastern Michigan University.

The victory moves the Lakers to 17-7 overall with an 8-2 mark in the GLIAC, while the Panthers fall to 15-11 overall with a 5-6 record in the conference.

The same two teams will finish their three-game series on Sunday (Apr. 6) with a doubleheader at Oestrike Stadium beginning at noon.

The first-inning theme continued in this game for the Lakers, as GVSU was able to get out to an early lead yet again.

In the bottom of the first, the Lakers wasted no time loading the bases, getting a one-out walk from Jesse Abel and a double from Kevin Zak before Giancarlo Brugnoni was walked. Jamie Potts capitalized, lifting a fly ball to center field for a sacrifice fly that scored Abel and put the Lakers up 1-0.

That score held until the fourth inning, when the Lakers had their first of three straight three-run innings in the game.

Aaron Overbeck got things started with a lead-off single and was followed by a single from Taylor Banks. After a strikeout, Joel Schipper hit a high chopper to the short stop that he beat out at first, loading the bases with one. Nadratowski took advantage, singling in to left field to score two. Zak followed with a two-out single through the left side of the infield that scored Schipper to make it a 4-0 game.

In the bottom of the fifth, Potts led off with a triple down the right field line and Overbeck walked on four straight pitches to put runners at the corners. Banks then lifted a sacrifice fly to right field that scored Potts to make it 5-0. After a walk from Stuart Eisler and another single by Schipper, the bases were loaded with Lakers yet again and Nadratowski was again the beneficiary, hitting a two-RBI single through the right side of the infield to push the lead to 7-0.

GVSU put up three more runs in the sixth with RBI singles from Potts and Overbeck and a wild pitch with the bases loaded that scored Potts to make it a 10-0 game.

Meanwhile, starter Evan Nietfeldt was rolling through the Panther lineup with relative ease. Nietfeldt allowed two hits in the first seven innings of the contest and needed only 89 pitches to register the four-hit complete game shutout. Nietfeldt moved his record to 5-0 on the season, striking out four on the day.

Five different Lakers had multiple hits in the game, with Nadratowski leading the way, going 3-for-5 with four RBI, which tied a career high, and a stolen base, his 10th of the season. Zak finished 3-for-5 with a run scored and an RBI, while Potts was 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBI, including his third triple of the season. Overbeck went 2-for-2 with two runs, an RBI and two walks, while Schipper also had two hits.
