Laker Men's Tennis Falls to Wayne State, 6-3

GRANDVILLE, Mich. - The Grand Valley State men's tennis team had its five-match winning streak snapped on Saturday (Apr. 5), falling 6-3 to Wayne State in GLIAC action at the Ramblewood Tennis & Health Club.

The Lakers are now 15-6 overall on the year with a 7-2 record in the GLIAC, while Wayne State moves to 6-6 overall with a 5-1 mark in the conference.

GVSU will meet up with perennial GLIAC powerhouse Northwood on Sunday (Apr. 6) at Ramblewood for a 12:50 p.m. match.

The team of Andrew Bole and Francis Bertrand picked up a victory at the No. 1 singles flight, taking a 9-7 match.

In singles, Andrew Darrell picked up the big victory of the day, defeating the Midwest region's 11th-ranked singles player, Stephane Robineau in a tight match, 6-7 (4-7), 6-2, 6-4, at No. 2 singles.

Billy Heckman picked up the other Laker victory, winning a 7-5, 4-6, 6-3 match at No. 3 singles.

Four of the six singles matches went to tiebreakers in one set and four of the six matches also went the full three sets.
