ORLANDO, Fla. - The Grand Valley State women's tennis team dominated Division I Robert Morris on Saturday (Mar. 8), winning 8-1 to end its spring trip in Florida.
The victory moves the Lakers to 16-5 overall, while Robert Morris falls to 1-6 on the season. GVSU will be back in action on March 15th when the Lakers take on Northwestern Ohio and Indiana Wesleyan on the road.
GVSU swept all three doubles matches to begin the day, with Lexi Rice and Carola Orna getting the biggest victory with an 8-3 win at No. 1 doubles.
Orna picked up her second victory of the day in singles, taking a hard-fought 6-4, 4-6, 11-9 match at the No. 5 flight.
In singles, the Lakers fell in the No. 1 flight, but won the remaining five, including Kali Phillips taking a commanding 6-1, 6-0 match at No. 2 singles. Leah Dancz won at No. 3 singles, 6-1, 6-2, and paired with Phillips to win an 8-4 match at No. 2 doubles.
