GRANDVILLE, Mich. - The Grand Valley State men's tennis team rolled to a 9-0 victory over GLIAC foe Walsh on Thursday (Mar. 27), never dropping a set en route to the victory at the Ramblewood Tennis & Health Club.
The victory moves the Lakers to 13-5 overall with a 5-1 record in the GLIAC, while Walsh falls to 10-6 overall with a 3-2 record in the conference.
GVSU will continue its homestand with an 11:30 a.m. match against Lake Erie at Ramblewood on Friday (Mar. 28).
The Lakers rolled in all three doubles matches, including the team of Andrew Bole and Francis Bertrand taking an 8-5 victory in the No. 1 flight.
In singles, GVSU won all six matches in straight sets. Bertrand picked up his second No. 1 victory of the day with a 6-4, 6-4 win at No. 1 singles, while Andrew Darrell matched the 6-4, 6-4 score in his victory at No. 2 singles.
Billy Heckman (No. 3) and Jack Heiniger (No. 4) put up matching 6-3, 6-2 victories in their singles matches, while Bole won 7-5, 6-3 at No. 5 singles.
In No. 6 singles, Quinn Sylow was taken to a tiebreaker in the first set, but prevailed with a 7-6 (7-5), 6-1 victory.
