TIFFIN, Ohio - The Grand Valley State men's tennis team dropped its first dual match of the season on Sunday (Feb. 23) at Tiffin, coming up on the short end of a 6-3 match against the Dragons. The Lakers are now 4-1 overall with a 2-1 mark in the GLIAC, while Tiffin moves to 6-3 overall with a 2-0 record in the conference.
The Lakers took an early lead in doubles, getting victories from Francis Bertrand and Billy Heckman at No. 1 doubles (8-5) as well as Jack Heiniger and Quinn Sylow at No. 2 doubles (8-6).
In singles, GVSU got a victory from Heckman at No. 3 singles by a 6-3, 6-2 score and had two other matches go to three sets, just narrowly missing out on flipping the final result.
The men's team will next take the court in Orlando, Fla. when the Lakers take on St. Francis at 8 a.m. Eastern to begin their spring break trip on March 4th.
