Men's Tennis Falls in Opening Round of GLIAC Tournament

MIDLAND, Mich. - The Grand Valley State men's tennis team fell 5-2 to Ohio Dominican on Friday evening in the opening round of the GLIAC Tournament at the Midland Community Tennis Center.

The Lakers now face eighth-seeded Findlay at 3:45 p.m. on Saturday. Ohio Dominican moved on to play top-seeded Northwood.

GVSU came out of doubles play with a 2-1 lead grabbing wins at the No. 2 and No. 3 positions. Andrew Darrell and partner Quinn Sylow as well as Andrew Bole and Ben Esh-Nauta each won 8-5 in their respective matches.

Ohio Dominican then picked up four points in singles play to advance in the tournament. Freshman Francis Bertrand forced his No. 1 match to three sets, but fell, 2-6, 6-3, 6-3. The No. 4 and No. 6 matches went unfinished.
