MIDLAND, Mich. - The Grand Valley State men's tennis team blanked Ohio Dominican, 5-0, in the opening round of the GLIAC Tournament at the Midland Tennis Center on Friday evening.
Grand Valley State was able to pick up all of the doubles points with wins in each match. Senior Marc Roesslein and sophomore Andrew Darrell won 8-3 at the No. 1 spot. In No. 2 doubles, senior Benny Delgado-Rochas paired with sophomore Bryan Hodges to win 8-6, while senior Josh Kazdan and freshman John McDonald won 8-5 in the No. 3 spot.
The Lakers then only needed two points to secure the win and got those from Darrell as he won 6-3, 6-4 in the No. 1 spot over Tyle Johnston. Hodges then won 6-2, 6-3 in the No. 4 singles slot to advance GVSU to the second round of the tournament.
GVSU will play the winner of the No. 1 Northwood/No. 8 Tiffin match, beginning on Saturday at 4 p.m.
