SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Grand Valley State women’s lacrosse team picked up its first-ever win, 15-10, at Converse College on a cold Monday night at Hayden Abney Fulp Field.
The win evens the Lakers’ record to 1-1 in the early part of the season, while Converse drops to 1-2 on the year.
Junior Allyson Fritts (Howell, Mich.) led the Lakers with four goals, four draw controls and four caused turnovers, while four other players tallied two goals each. Freshman Sarah Lowe (Okemos, Mich.) had four assists and five ground balls.
Converse jumped out to a 4-1 lead early in the first half before GVSU erased the deficit scoring four consecutive goals including back-to-back tallies from Fritts.
