Results

HOLLAND, Mich. - The Grand Valley State men's tennis team downed West Michigan rival Hope College, 8-1, in a mid-week match at the DeWitt Tennis Center on Wednesday evening.

The win improves the Lakers' record to 8-9 on the season as GVSU look to extend its four-game conference win streak against Lake Erie on Friday at 3 p.m. at the GVSU Tennis Courts.

Grand Valley State was one again able to pick up two points in doubles competition to take an early lead.  The pair of senior Marc Roesslein and sophomore Andrew Darrell at the No. 1 spot won 8-2.  Seniors Josh Kazdan and Dan Jarboe snuck out an 8-6 win in No. 3 doubles.

In singles action, Darrell was able to bounce back from a first-set loss and take the game, 3-6, 6-1, 6-0 for the win in the No. 1 spot. Senior Benny Delgado-Rochas defeated Parker Bussies at No. 2 singles by a score of 6-1, 6-4.  Roesslein also won his singles match, 6-2, 6-1.

Sophomore Bryan Hodges dropped Cody Herbruck, 6-2, 6-3 in the fourth slot, while Kazdan pulled out a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 5.  After dropping his doubles match with Hodges, freshman John McDonald closed the match outWith a 6-1, 6-2 win at the No. 6 spot.

Grand Valley State hosts a pair of conference foes this weekend, taking on Lake Erie on Friday at 3 p.m. and welcoming Ohio Dominican on Saturday at 10 a.m.  The matches are scheduled for the GVSU Tennis Courts in Allendale, Mich., but pending weather may be moved to the Ramblewood Health and Tennis Club in Grandville.
