EAST LANSING, Mich. - The No. 21 Grand Valley State women’s basketball team dropped a 75-23 decision to Michigan State in exhibition play at the Breslin Center on Sunday afternoon. GVSU officially opens the season on Sunday, Nov. 13 at 2 p.m. at Saint Joseph’s in Rensselaer, Ind.
Michigan State did not allow the Lakers to score a field goal in the first half and took a 40-7 lead into halftime and never looked back.
Junior Briauna Taylor led GVSU with 11 points on 3-for-12 shooting and a 5-for-7 performance at the line. She also picked up a team-high seven rebounds and three steals. Sophomore Dani Crandall was second on the team, tallying seven points and five rebounds.
The Spartans were led by a 17-point showing from Becca Mills and 12 from Taylor Alton.
