Final Stats

Kalamazoo, Mich. - The Grand Valley State women's tennis team claimed an 8-1 victory over Kalamazoo College Friday afternoon. The Lakers improve to 13-5 overall and will return to action March 7 in Orlando, Florida versus Emory.

GVSU took a 2-1 lead after doubles action, claiming wins at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles. Katelyn Schaffer and Tara Hayes claimed an 8-1 win at No. 2 doubles, while Allison Fecko and Jackie Shipman also earned an 8-1 victory at No. 3 doubles. The Lakers then swept through singles action in straight sets. Tara Hayes tallied a 7-5, 7-6 (4) win at No. 1 singles, while Katelyn Schaffer earned a 6-3, 6-3 win at No. 2 singles. Chelsea Johnston was impressive with a 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3 singles and Darylann Trout won a 6-0, 6-1 matchup at No. 4 singles. Jackie Shipman was victorious at No. 5 singles (6-1, 6-4) and Rachel Rendina claimed a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 6 singles.
