Laker Men Defeat Ohio Dominican 8-1

Columbus, Ohio - The Laker men's tennis team topped Ohio Dominican on Saturday in non-conference action by an 8-1 score. Grand Valley State improved to 1-1 on the year.

GVSU swept through singles action with victories. Marc Roesslein claimed a 7-5, 6-3 win over Ohio Dominican's Bernado Feitosa 7-5, 6-3 at No. 1 singles, while Grand Valley's Philipp Claus cruised to a 6-1, 6-0 win over Bruno Melibeu at No. 2 singles. Brock Plangger battled for a 6-3, 7-5 win over Ohio Dominican's Greg Dillon at No. 3 singles, Jeff Globerson down Claude Baclowski 6-4, 6-4 at No. 4 singles and Josh Kazdan defeated Ohio Dominican's Conrad Klank 6-1, 6-3. Alex Parker claimed a 6-3, 6-2 win over Bobby McMahan at No. 6 singles for the Lakers.

In the No. 1 doubles matchup Grand Valley's Roesslein and Tony Dang downed Claude Baclowski and Conrad Klank by a score of 8-2, while GVSU's #3 doubles pairing Jeff Globerson and Ryan Diebold pulled out an 8-4 win over Greg Dillon and Bobby McMahan. The lone Laker loss for the day came at #2 doubles where Brock Plangger and Philipp Claus dropped a 9-7 decision to Ohio Dominican's Bernado Feitosa and Bruno Melibeu.
