Grand Valley State finished second at the Northern Kentucky Invitational with a 36-hole team score of 583. Indianapolis won the event with a 573. The Lakers will next compete at the North Alabama Spring Classic March 30 and 31.
Grand Valley State led after the opening 18 holes with a team score of 289. Tyler Hering carded a 68, while Ben Brooks and Matt Johnson each fired a 73. Josh Burt followed with a 75 and Matt Malloure a 78. Indianapolis shot an opening round 294 and found themselves in second place after 18 holes. Indianapolis was hot on Sunday and shot an incredible 279 to claim the 10-shot win. GVSU's Matt Johnson shot a final round 69 for a 36-hole total of 142. Hering shot a day two 74 and also carded a 36-hole score of 142. Both Hering and Johnson tied for fourth. Brooks shot a final round 75 for a 148 and Burt notched a 36-hole total of 152 after carding a 77 on day two. Malloure shot a 76 on day two for a 154. Nick Gunthorpe carded a 160 playing as an individual.
