GVSU held a 9-8 lead at the 12:33 mark before Ferris State put together a 9-0 run that kept the Lakers off the board until the 6:48 mark after a free throw from Nick West. A layup from junior Justin Ringler made the score 20-14 with 5:04 remaining, but that would be as close as Grand Valley State would get the rest of the game. FSU closed the half on a 13-2 run that turned into a 17-2 run in the early minutes of the second half.
