Casee Piquet singled to left field in the first at-bat and then went home on a two-run home run by Carol Kienzl to put GU up 3-1. In the fifth, Gannon added another run, making it 4-2 on a solo shot to left center.

GVSU did not score in the last three innings of the game. In the fifth, Sarah Holland and Moleski both singled and Elizabeth Smith walked to load the bases, but Rebecca Plummer struck out looking to end the threat.
