Laker Men Defeat Findlay, 132-73, In Men's S&D Action

Allendale, Mich. - Grand Valley State won eight events en route to a 132-73 victory over Findlay in GLIAC swimming and diving action at the GVSU pool. The Laker men will now focus on the GLIAC Championships to be held in Indianapolis, Indiana February 13-16.

The Lakers opened by taking the top two places in the 200 medley relay. Kyle Burgher led a 1-2-3 sweep in the 1000 free by touching first in 10:26.44. Ryan Kraai was second (10:41.26) and Mitch Knoll third (10:49.64). Aaron Phillippe won the 200 free (1:48.57) and Justin Pattermann touched first in the 400 IM (4:11.08). Matt Witkowski was second in the 400IM with a time of 4:17.97. Evan Betts and Patrick VanDommelen placed first (298.70) and second (255.70) on the 1-meter board. Witkowski another Laker sweep in the 100 free. Witkowski touched first in 47.53, while Evan Kobes was second (48.89) and Aaron Renton third (49.83). Jordan Schrotenboer won the 100 backstroke, touching the wall in 54.89, while Phil Watkins was second in 56.46. Jeff Pauza won the 500 free in 4:53.71, followed by Aaron Phillippe (4:58.95) and Corey Fellows (5:11.43). The Lakers competed in exhibition only in the final four events.
