Laker Women Claim 148-83 Win At Hope

Holland, Mich. - Grand Valley State won 10 events and went on to claim a 148-83 victory over Hope College Friday night in Holland. GVSU will return to action Saturday versus GLIAC rival Findlay.

The Lakers opened the meet with a victory in the 400 medley relay (4:06.60), followed by a 1-2-3 finish in the 1000 free. Katie Lawrie was first (10:57.54), followed by Megan Hahler in second (11:00.67), and Katie Czirr in third (11:10.91). Erin Kinney won the 200 free (1:57.49), while Alison Scholz (24.84) and Kim Baughman (25.08) finished one-two in the 50 free. Alison Sante claimed first-place on the 1-meter board (228.65), followed by Sara Moore in second (207.10).

Jenna Thayer led a Laker sweep in the 200 butterfly. Thayer touched in 2:10.33, followed by Erin Lynch (2:14.53) in second and Ashley Berish in third (2:17.33). Alison Scholz finished first in the 100 free (54.68), followed by Kim Baughman in second (55.22) and Ally Nagel in third (56.16). Danielle Buglio touched first in the 200 back (2:12.59), while Jamie Gomez was third (2:16.94). Erin Kinney (5:16.58) and Katie Lawrie (5:22.26) finished first and second in the 500 free. GVSU competed in exhibition only in the final four events.
