The GVSU men's tennis team recorded a 5-4 victory over Rockhurst on Saturday in Indianapolis. The win improves the Lakers record to 3-1 on the season. GVSU will complete the weekend trip with a matchup against Southern Indiana on Sunday.

Grand Valley State split with the Hawks in singles action, as each team was able to win three matches. Patrick Troy picked up a win in No. 3 singles, defeating his opponent, 6-1, 6-2. Matt Globerson recorded a 6-2, 6-2 win in No. 5 singles while Alex Switzer won in the No. 6 slot by a 7-5, 6-4 margin.

Doubles play proved to be the difference as the Lakers were able to take two of three matchups from Rockhurst. The team of Justin Sauerbrey and Patrick Troy picked up an 8-2 win in the No. 2 slot. Also victorious for GVSU were Alex Switzer and Matt Globerson, who notched a 8-5 win. Adam Sandusky and Tony Dang fell for the Lakers in the No. 1 doubles slot by an 8-3 count.
