Allendale, Mich. - The #7-ranked Grand Valley State (19-2, 10-2) men's basketball team captured its 13th consecutive victory Thursday night in the GVSU Fieldhouse Arena with an 82-48 victory over the visiting Lakers of Lake Superior State (8-13, 5-7). Senior Mike Hall led all scorers with a game-high 25 points on 11-of-14 shooting. Junior Jason Jamerson broke the school record for career three pointers made of 191 as he knocked down three on the night and now has 194 for his career. GVSU will wrap up its four game homestand next Wednesday (Feb. 7) when they take on the Timberwolves of Northwood at 8 pm.

Mike Hall came out firing as he knocked down a triple just 15 seconds into the contest as GVSU jumped out to an early 7-0 lead and never looked back. Grand Valley upped its lead to 27 later in the first as it went on an 18-0 run over a 6:50 span late in the half. LSSU hit a three pointer with eight seconds remaining to end the 18-0 run and cut the halftime margin to 24 (42-18). GVSU tallied 18 points in the paint during the opening 20 minutes as Hall dropped in 14 points.

LSSU attempted to chip away at GVSU's lead to start the second half but a 10-0 run by Grand Valley that was capped off by a three-point play by senior Dan Redder and a monstrous dunk by Mike Hall would end LSSU's hopes of getting back in the game. Hall received a pass from Pete Trammell and took his defender baseline then rose up and threw the ball down with a powerful right hand that brought the 1,415 fans in attendance to their feet.

GVSU would stretch its lead to a game-high 38 when Brian Arnold connected on a jumper with 3:54 to play in the game. Lake Superior cut the final margin to 82-48 as Grand Valley claimed its 13th consecutive and eighth straight GLIAC win. The Lakers now sit comfortably atop the GLIAC North standings with a 10-2 conference mark.

Hall finished the night with a career-high 25 while pulling down a game-high six rebounds and dishing out a game-high four assists in 28 minutes of action. Junior Jason Jamerson became GVSU's career three pointers made record holder as he passed former Laker great J.P. Huntington's (1995-99) mark of 191 and now has 194. Freshman guard David Thompson added 10 points off the bench and turned in a great all-around game with four rebounds, three assists, and two steals. Dan Redder chipped in nine points off the bench for the Lakers.

#7 GVSU will host Northwood in a GLIAC matchup next Wednesday, Feb. 7 at 8 pm in the GVSU Fieldhouse Arena. The Lakers claimed a 72-53 decision earlier in the year against the Timberwolves and have won five straight over Northwood. Jamerson poured in a game-high 23 against the Timberwolves in that contest.
