Lakers Dominate Findlay In 109-52 Victory Saturday

Findlay, Ohio - Grand Valley State won nine events Saturday en route to a 109-52 victory at Findlay in women's swimming & diving. GVSU is 4-5 in dual meets this season, with the season finale set for Feb. 2 at Northern Michigan.

The Lakers came out and dominated from the start at Findlay. GVSU won the 200-yard medley relay (Liz Rogers, Katie Lawrie, Nina Reynolds and Amy Williams) in a time of 1:57.50. GVSU followed by taking the top three spots in the 1000-yard freestyle, highlighted by Megan Hahler's first-place finish in a time of 11:04.95. Eli Leskovar finished second (11:13.45). Jenna Thayer claimed top honors in the 50 freestyle (23.02), followed by Amy Williams' second-place finish (23.44). Sam Stump finished first in the 200-yard IM (2:17.06), while GVSU swept the top three spots in the 100 butterfly. Sam Stump claimed her second first-place finish by touching first in the 200 fly (1:03.49). Nina Reynolds was second (1:03.78) and Beth Cyr claimed third (1:04.98). Eli Leskovar claimed top honors in the 100 free (56.91), and GVSU swept the top three times in the 100 back. Liz Rodgers was first (1:02.87), followed by Alison VanKampen (1:03.33) and Allison Scholz (1:05.27). Katie Lawrie claimed a first-place finish in the 500 free (5:10.30) and Jenna Thayer was second (5:25.91).
