Final Stats
The men's swimming and diving team proved a strong effort, but fell to Wayne State University 156-89.
The men demonstrated outstanding performances in the diving portion of the event, as freshman Evan Betts won the 3-meter dive tallying 252.97 points. He was followed by junior Joel Overway who posted 234.67 points in the 3-meter dive to place second, and 225.45 points in the 1-meter dive to finish third.
The men's relay teams added to the Lakers effort with a first place finish of the 400-yard medley relay team of senior Ryan Whitsitt, freshman Hans Hill, senior Kyle Barrons, and sophomore Justin Barkel. The 400-yard freestyle relay of Justin Vasquez, Kyle Barrons, freshman Aaron Phillippe, and senior Dan Kimble provided the Lakers with a second place finish. Freshman Corey Fellows, sophomore Kyle Burgher, senior Chris Winkel and freshman Aaron Renton finished third in the 400-yard freestyle relay.
Senior Justin Vasquez added two second place finishes for the Lakers, finishing the 200-yard freestyle in 1:46.92, and the 100-yard butterfly in 52.70. Dan Kimble followed Vasquez in the 200-yard freestyle finishing third (1:47.02), while Kyle Barrons followed Vasquez in the 100-yard butterfly recording a time of 53.20 to also finish third.
Dan Kimble added another third place finish completing the 100-yard freestyle in 49.77.
Freshman Matt Witkowski posted a second place finish in the 200-yard IM. Justin Barkel followed Witkowski, finishing third. Barkel also added a second place finish for the Lakers, completing the 100-yard breastroke in 59.14. Hans Hill finished third with a time of 1:01.97. Freshman Ryan Kraai also added a third place finish recording a 10:10.49 1000-yard freestyle.
The Lakers will compete at Calvin Jan. 19 at 6:00 p.m.
