#4 Grand Valley State tallied a 76-49 GLIAC road win at Mercyhurst on Saturday afternoon. GVSU improves to 8-1 overall and 4-0 in the GLIAC, while Mercyhurst drops to 2-6 and 0-3. The Lakers will return home to host Spring Arbor on Friday, Dec. 15 at 7:00 p.m.

Mercyhurst jumped out to a 4-0 lead, but GVSU tied it up at 6-6 with 15:03 in the first half. Mercyhurst hit a three-pointer to go ahead 9-6, but then the Lakers went on a 13-0 run to take a 10-point, 19-9 with 11:29 remaining in the half. Mercyhurst cut the lead to six point (29-23) with 4:43 left, but GVSU closed out the first half with an 11-3 run to go into the lockerroom with a 40-26 lead.

GVSU hit three straight three-pointers to start the second half, jumping out to a 49-26 lead. Grand Valley scored the next nine out of 11 point to take a 30-point (58-28) lead with 13:38 left in the game. GVSU took its largest lead of the game, 63-29 with 8:19 remaining in the game. Grand Valley held on to at least a 25-point lead for the rest of the game en route to its 76-49 win.

Grand Valley was led again by junior guard Crystal Zick who recorded a game-high 20 points, four rebounds, three assists, and three steals. Senior center Julia Braseth tallied 14 points, four rebounds, one assist, and one steal, while senior guard Taushauna Churchwell added eight points, six rebounds, and three steals. Junior guard Erin Cyplik posted eight points, two rebounds, and two assits and senior guard Erika Ryskamp had eight points, a steal, and an assist.

Freshman center Lauren Buresh posted eight points, two rebounds, and a steal and junior forward Julie Baltmanis added four points and three rebounds. Freshman guard Carlie Holden recorded three points, three rebounds, an assist, and a steal, while junior guard Courtney Hammond had two points, two steals, a rebound, and a block.
