Grand Valley State dropped at 3-2 (30-24, 27-30, 30-24, 28-30, 15-12) decision to Central Washington on Friday night at the Amerihost GVSU Fall Classic. GVSU drops to 3-2 overall and will host Florida Gulf Coast at 7:00 p.m. tonight.
Central Washington took game one, 30-24, but the Lakers tied up the match after winning game two, 30-27. Central Washington picked up the win in game three (30-24), while GVSU took game four, 30-28. The two teams battled back and forth in game five, but Central Washington pulled out the 15-12 win.
Senior outside hitter Tina Tromblay led the Lakers with 20 kills, seven assisted blocks, eight digs, and a .304 attack percentage. Senior middle blocker Tracy Kirk tallied 15 kills and five blocks, while senior middle blocker Lauren Hanson recorded 12 kills, 10 assisted blocks, and a .375 attack percentage. Redshirt freshman Jamie Ashmore posted 45 assists and sophomore Alyson Riley led GVSU with 28 digs.
GVSU tallied 19 blocks and a .234 hitting percentage.
