Grand Valley State concluded a four-game homestand by routing Lock Haven (Pa.), 104-57, Wednesday night at the GVSU Fieldhouse. The Lakers improve to 9-2 on the year and will play at Aquinas College Friday night at 7:30 p.m.
Lock Haven led 15-14 with 12:18 left in the opening half, but the Lakers outscored the Bald Eagles 32-15 and went into the half with a 46-30 advantage. GVSU opened the second stanza with a 20-4 run and built a 32 point lead (66-34) with 15:38 remaining in the game. GVSU recorded a 58-27 scoring advantage in the final 20 minutes and built a 47 point advantage when Nate Bassett hit a three-pointer in the final minute.
Freshman forward Pete Trammell scored a career-high 18 points, all of which came in the second half. Sophomore center Callistus Eziukwu scored 13 points and junior Dan Redder added 11 points. Every Laker on the roster scored for GVSU.
GVSU shot 65.8 percent in the second half and 55.1 percent for the game. The Lakers dished out a season-high 26 assists and recorded a season-high 20 steals. In addition, GVSU outrebounded the Bald Eagles by a 43-29 margin. The Lakers broke the century mark for the 75th time in school history and the first time since a 103-93 win at Saginaw Valley State in January of 2003.
