Grand Valley State won its sixth straight GLIAC match as they defeat Mercyhurst College, 3-0 (30-25, 30-22, 30-22) in Erie, Penn. Saturday afternoon. GVSU improves to 16-4 overall and 8-1 in GLIAC action. GVSU will return home on Tuesday, Oct. 11 to host West Michigan rival Ferris State.
GVSU hit .270, while Mercyhurst recorded just a .130 hitting percentage. Grand Valley also added seven service aces in the match.
Senior middle blocker Tracy Kirk led GVSU once again, recording a match-high 15 kills, a .419 hitting percentage, three service aces, five digs, and one solo and one assisted block. Junior outside hitter Megan Helsen added nine kills, a .450 attack percentage, two aces, eight digs, and two assisted blocks.
Redshirt freshman Jamie Ashmore recorded a team-high 21 assists and six digs, while freshman Kelly Hogan added 14 kills. Sophomore Alyson Riley posted 29 digs.
