Northern Kentucky (26-2) scored two runs in the second inning and it was enough to seal the 2-0 win over Grand Valley State Saturday morning in the GLIAC vs. GLVC Tournament in Peoria, Ill. The Lakers drop to 14-3 overall and will play Lewis University at 2:00 p.m. CST on Saturday.

The Norse tallied three straight hits to start off the second inning, scoring their first run. The second run crossed the plate on a bases loaded walk by senior pitcher Jennifer Mackson. The Lakers threatened with two runners on base in both the fifth and sixth innings, but couldn't score.

Mackson picks up her second loss of the season falling to 8-2. She allowed four hits, two earned runs, while recording 10 strikeouts.

GVSU tallied four hits as well in the game. Senior 3B Lindsay Crawford, senior LF Erin Ballinger, sophomore DH Stacie DelChiaro, and sophomore catcher Megan Smith all recorded hits in the loss.
