Joplin, Mo. - Matt Rafeld went 6 2/3 innings to lead GVSU to a 5-2 victory over SIUE Sunday in Joplin, Mo. Rafeld, who improved to 9-1 in his career at GVSU, yielded two runs on six hits en route to the win. Joe Finnerty picked up his first save of the year while getting the final out of the game.

SIUE struck first with a single run in the top of the second, but GVSU came back and put a two-spot up on the board in the bottom of the third. SIUE tied the game in the top of the fourth, but the Lakers answered with a single run in the bottom of the fourth and two insurance runs in the bottom of the fifth. 1B Tim Hudnall was 2-3 with two RBI and two runs scored, while 2B Jeremy Lundberg was 1-3 with an RBI. Scott Allen was 2-4 with a run scored.
