Grand Valley State went 1-1 in the GLIAC vs. GLVC Challenge after defeating St. Joseph's College, 77-59 Tuesday. The Lakers improve to 6-4 overall and will return to action on Dec. 30 at Spring Arbor College at 7:30 p.m.

GVSU took a 39-26 at the halftime after shooting 43.3% from the field. The Lakers were led by senior guard Janine Guastella who tallied a game-high 22 points, on 6-of-8 shooting from behind the three-point arc. Sophomore guard Erika Ryskamp recorded 14 points, four rebounds, and four assists, while freshman guard Crystal Zick added 10 points, five rebounds, and four assists. Junior Nikki Reams posted six points, six rebounds, and and two steals. Freshman guard Courtney Hammond led the Lakers with four steals.

Reams and Guastella were both named to the All-Classic Team.
