#11 Grand Valley State won its 13 consecutive match as it swept Mercyhurst, 3-0 (30-17, 30-26, 30-23) Friday night. The Lakers have swept their last 10 out of 13 opponents and have won 39 of their last 44 games.
Grand Valley won game one, 30-17, behind its .421 attack percentage. GVSU tallied a 30-26 game two win and finished the match with a 30-23 win in game three.
GVSU was led by junior Tracy Kirk who tallied a match-high 16 kills, .577 attack percentage, and two assisted blocks, while junior Lauren Hanson added 11 kills and an .846 hitting percentage. Freshman Cortney Lokker tallied 10 kills and 13 digs, redshirt freshman Alyson Riley posted a team-high 22 digs, and junior Tina Tromblay added 10 digs for the Lakers. Senior Leah Kunz and junior Michele Ehrlich each tallied 24 assists.
Grand Valley State hit .304 as a team, while Mercyhurst tallied a .062 attack percentage on the match.
The Lakers are now 17-3 overall and 9-0 in GLIAC action. GVSU will play at Gannon on Saturday, Oct. 9 at 4:00 p.m.
