Grand Valley State remains perfect in the GLIAC as they defeated Wayne State 3-0 (30-23, 30-21, 30-19) Saturday. The Lakers improve to 20-3 overall and 12-0 in GLIAC action. Grand Valley will host Ferris State on Thursday, Oct. 21 at 7:00 p.m. before ending its regular season road games at Northwood (10/29) and Saginaw Valley (10/30).
The Lakers tallied a .377 attack percentage as a team, while Wayne State hit just .114. Grand Valley hit .410 to the Warriors .167 in its 30-23 game one win. GVSU outhit WSU .364 to .139 in game two as the Lakers won, 30-21. The Lakers continued to hit hard, tallying a .359 attack percentage in their 30-19 game three win.
Junior Tracy Kirk led the way for GVSU with a match-high 13 kills, a .524 attack percentage, four digs, and four blocks. Junior Lauren Hanson posted 11 kills, a .400 hitting percentage, and two blocks, while senior Stephanie Maciasz-Dow hit .500 with 10 kills. Junior Tina Tromblay recorded 10 kills, a team-high 13 digs, and two assisted blocks and sophomore Megan Helsen added nine kills, a .368 attack percentage, and 10 digs. Redshirt freshman Alyson Riley added 12 digs, while senior Leah Kunz led the way with 49 assists.
The Lakers have won 16 consecutive matches and 49 out of their last 55 games.
