Grand Valley State went 3-0 in women's tennis action this weekend. GVSU is now 3-1 overall and also in GLIAC action.
On Thursday, the Lakers defeated Hillsdale College, 9-0. GVSU had no problem sweeping all five singles matches and Hillsdale defaulted at 6 singles. Grand Valley also won 1 and #2 doubles and the Chargers defaulted at #3 doubles.
On Friday, Grand Valley defeated Wayne State, 7-2. The Lakers did not drop a set in the first three singles matches, but fell at #4 singles. GVSU was also defeated at #3 doubles.
Marie Cameron led the way at #1 singles by winning, 6-3, 6-4 and Nikki Fairchild won easily at #2 singles, 6-1, 6-1.
The Lakers concluded the weekend by sweeping Findlay, 9-0. Fairchild won her match at #1 singles, 6-3, 6-1 and Alison Koopsen beat her opponent, 6-2, 6-1, at #2 singles.
Grand Valley will travel to Indianapolis, Ind. for the Omni Hotels Great Lakes Regional Tournament on Sept. 19-21.
