#24 Grand Valley State won a close GLIAC battle with Northwood, 3-2 (21-30, 30-25, 23-30, 30-23, 17-15). The Lakers improve to 13-5 overall and 5-1 in GLIAC play.

GVSU fell, 21-30 in game one as Northwood recorded a .433 attack percentage, but came back with a .310 team attack percentage to win game two, 30-25. The Timberwolves won game three, 30-23, but the Lakers tied up the match at two games a piece by winning game four, 30-23. GVSU held on in a tight fifth match to seal the win, 17-15.

Tracy Kirk recorded 13 kills, 29 total attacks, a .345 attack percentage, and a career-high eight assisted blocks. Melissa Reneski added 13 attacks of her own, along with 39 total attacks and eight digs. Nicole Bayle added a team-high 39 assists, seven digs, and three blocks, while Katie Horvath tallied a team-high 13 digs.

The Lakers will play at Saginaw Valley State, Saturday, Oct. 4 at 4:00 p.m. for another GLIAC matchup.
