Lakers Fall To Ferris, 7-2

Allendale, Mich. - Grand Valley State women's tennis dropped its season opener 7-2 to Ferris State on the GVSU tennis courts on Saturday (Sept. 7.). The Lakers won their number two doubles match and Stephanie Donston earned a win in the number five singles position. It was the first match for the Lakers under new head coach John Black, who took over the Laker tennis program during the summer of 2002.

Marie Cameron and Kellen Lynch earned an 8-5 victory in doubles action, while the other two doubles matches ended in 8-6 Ferris victories. Donston was the only Laker able to pull out her singles contest with a 6-1, 6-2 victory. Laura Sukup lost 6-0, 5-7, 7-5 in the only three set match of the day.

The Lakers will travel to Glen Oaks Community College on September 9 before their next GLIAC match versus Hillsdale on September 12.
