GVSU Defeats Gannon; Remain Perfect In GLIAC

Allendale, Mich. - Grand Valley State extended its school record win streak to nine with a 2-0 victory over Gannon on Sunday in Erie, Penn. The Lakers got goals from freshman Mirela Tutundzic and Jenny Swalec. Tutundzic's goal was her 14th of the season to set the GVSU single season scoring record. Swalec scored her 10th goal to make the tandem the first in Laker history to tally double-digit goals in the same season. GVSU improves to 13-2 overall and remain the only school with a perfect mark in GLIAC action at 6-0 in conference play.

Tutundzic got the Lakers started early as she scored her goal off an assist from Swalec only five minutes into the game. The defense took over from there as they earned their seventh shutout of the season, including the sixth by Melissa Henson in goal. Swalec added her goal with less than 15 minutes left in the game to finish off the Golden Knights. Jeanna Falduto picked up an assist on the last goal of the game.

The Lakers finish their home schedule next weekend as they host Findlay on Saturday at 3:00 pm and Ashland on Sunday at 1:00 pm.
