2016-17 Top-10: Men's And Women's Tennis Advance To NCAA Regional Finals

The annual countdown of the top-10 moments in Laker sports for the past athletic year has started.  2016-17 was another productive year for the Lakers as GVSU Athletics claimed its 12th Directors' Cup and 19th consecutive GLIAC Presidents' Trophy. Over the next few weeks, stories will be released every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday on gvsulakers.com counting down the biggest accomplishments by Grand Valley State teams, as well as individual athletes, during the 2016-17 campaign.

2016-17 Top-10 GVSU Moments
No. 9: Men's and Women's Tennis Advance To NCAA Regional Finals


The NCAA announced the selections for the 2017 NCAA men's and women's national tournament Tuesday (April 25) and both the Laker men and women have advanced to postseason action. The GVSU men (19-7) are the #4 seed in the Midwest Region, while the Laker women (21-8) are a #5 seed. 

The Grand Valley State women were selected to participate in the NCAA Tournament for the 13th consecutive year. GVSU, the #5 seed, will square off against #4 Tiffin at the University of Indianapolis. Top-seeded Indianapolis will then host the winner of the GVSU-Tiffin match. 

The GVSU men were selected to compete in the NCAA tourney for the ninth time since 2004, including four consecutive trips. #4-seeded Grand Valley State will face #5-seeded Rockhurst at Ferris State, with the winner slated to go against top-seeded Bulldogs.
