Grand Valley State women's basketball player Korynn Hincka was named the GLIAC North Division Player of the Week after posting two double-doubles in victories over Purdue Northwest and Aquinas this past week. Hincka was the driving force behind the two victories that have pushed the Lakers to a 10-2 overall record and a 4-1 record in conference play. Hincka picked up her second double-double of the season in a 73-53 rout of Purdue Northwest last Saturday (Dec. 16) before picking up her third yesterday afternoon (Dec. 19) in a 68-55 victory over Aquinas.
 
On the season, the senior center leads the Lakers with 8.7 rebounds per contest, which ranks third in the GLIAC, and also ranks third on the squad in scoring, pouring in 11.1 points per game. Hincka is also tied for the second most steals on the team (13) while also ranking third in blocks (6) and assists (17). She has also been efficient while on the floor as she is hitting her shots at a 44.3% clip, including 41.7% from beyond the 3-point line, which is the fourth best mark in the league.
 
Against the Pride, Hincka tallied 13 points on 5 of 8 shooting, including going 2-3 from beyond the arc, while also pulling down 12 rebounds (6 offensive, 6 defensive). Hincka then one-upped herself a few days later by tying her career high with 19 points scored while pulling down 10 rebounds against Aquinas. On the weekend, Hincka averaged 16 points on 60.5% shooting and 11 rebounds while also picking up five assists and a block as well.
 
The Lakers have about a week and a half off for the holiday break before heading back to Allendale to take on the Cornerstone Golden Eagles on Dec. 30th at 5:00 PM.
