The Laker Baseball Field was originally constructed prior to 1975 and was located to the southwest of the Fieldhouse. In the mid 1990's, the field was resurfaced for better drainage and a sprinkling system. Since then, a press box, player clubhouse, turf floor batting cages, a new scoreboard and outfield wall have been added.

When the old softball field was moved in 2008, the press box was relocated behind the third base dugout of the baseball field. This has been converted into a player clubhouse with individual lockers for each player. The dimensions of the field are 330-400-330. To improve the beautiful field even more, stadium stands were added to the field before the 2010 season creating a more comfortable environment for fans to come and enjoy Laker baseball games.

In 2017, a true outfield wall was installed to replace the chainlink fence, giving the field a professional look and feel.

The GVSU Baseball Field has been the host to a few playoff games over the years. Most recently, the field was host to the GLIAC Tournament in 2003 and the Regional Tournament in 2003.
