AUGUSTA, MICH. – The Grand Valley State women's golf team got their postseason run underway today, playing the opening two rounds of the GLIAC Championship. After 36 holes, four Lakers are in the top 10, helping GVSU to a second place standing. GVSU will have one more round of stroke play tomorrow morning to try and maintain their spot in the top two to clinch a spot in the medal match play championship.
Results
Ferris State is atop the leaderboard at +24, with the Lakers just three strokes off in second. In third is SVSU at +40, followed by Wayne State in fourth, with a score of +49. Parkside and Davenport are both in a tie for fifth, ending at +53.
Charlotte Goersch ended the day tied for second place, shooting a three over. She carded rounds of 74 (+2) and 73 (+1) with five birdies.
Lea Stotz,
Rachael Krieger, and
Evelyn Park are all tied for 10
th at +8. Stotz and Krieger each shot a 78 (+6) and a 74 with five birdies. Park made one birdie in each of her rounds of 77 (+5) and 75 (+3).
Heida Rafnsdottir made three birdies across her rounds of 84 (+12) and 76 (+4) to end in a tie for 22
nd.
Round three is set to tee off at 10:00 tomorrow morning. The Lakers are paired with Ferris State and SVSU. If GVSU makes the medal match play championship, it will start once the third round is over.
